As the .iso files available on the Downloads page are getting a bit old and dusty and requests for newer versions regularly appear on IRC and through other channels, aquatix decided to put the latest (as of the 5th of September) KDE main module and base module together, testing it in an emulator, thought it worked quite fine and uploading it at the autobuilds repostory.
It's the morphix-kde-20080905.iso file of course, with the checksum in the corresponding morphix-kde-20080905.iso.md5sum
This was done after a request in #morphix, but I intend to do the same for the Gnome and Lightgui versions (including some light testing) and will even try to get aquamorph into shape again (for really real(tm) this time. No, really!). That way we at least have some recent/pretty decent .iso's to refer new users to.
Website 'issues'
Yet again we've been a bit slow in upgrading Joomla, this together with some ibiblio-difficulties resulted in 2 weeks of downtime of our main website. We're sorry for the inconvenience and we've made some changes to ensure it doesn't happen again. That, and we're seriously considering dropping Joomla for a more stable alternative :)
One of the changes is that in order to reduce our load on the main ibiblio webservers we've moved our autobuilding/autotesting facilities over to the distro.ibiblio.org server. The URLs have been updated on the autobuild-page. This also gives us more capacity, so that we can offer more live CD isos and Morphix modules in the future.
MorphixLiveKiosk 0.04
MorphixLiveKiosk is a Morphix CD, based on the previous LiveCDs released by LiveCD.net. It is a LiveCD that contains a locked down version of firefox-browser. Boot the computer using the LiveCD and you can use the browser - nothing else (well apart from a screensaver), close the brower and all the viewing history is deleted from memory.
For licensing reasons it does not contain Java or Flash. MorphixLiveKiosk is designed to be easy to build, see the Morphix Manual, HowTo - Build a LiveCD in two commands. This is now version 0.04 of MorphixLiveKiosk. It was built by mbuild using Morphix and Debian Etch repositories. It contains many improvement on version, 0.03. Mainly the cleanness of configuring the homepage and navigations bar. (No more tar-balls), it also makes it easier to add Java and flash.
MorphixLiveKiosk is easy to build, but we want to make life even easier. Thats where mbuild joins the party, As a webservice mbuild will generate a customised kiosk LiveCD, based upon your Branding, Graphics, Homepage and plugins (java and flash) - all for £25.
